Being all technical using Twitter instead of teletype, the New York Film Critics Circle unveiled their winners via “tweets.” Harvey and Bob Weinstein walked away the biggest winners with two of its films taking three top awards.
Meryl Streep won best actress for The Iron Lady, while Brad Pitt earned Best Actor honors for his films Moneyball and The Tree of Life.
The silent era homage The Artist, which was nominated for the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes film festival, took the top prize for film and its director, Michel Hazanavicius, won for directing.
Writing honors were bestowed to Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin for Moneyball, while Jessica Chastain (for The Help, Take Shelter, and The Tree of Life) and Albert Brooks (Drive) took supporting honors.
