Duke Roufus once spoke of how hard of a weight cut Erik Koch had to make featherweight, as the Roufusport fighter was a Top 10 caliber opponent for anyone in the division but had a difficult time getting there. Following a wild fight against Dustin Poirier in Milwaukee, WI, the featherweight announced his intentions to move up a weight class.
Now he’ll get his wish, facing Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 170.
Koch is on a two fight losing streak at 145, losing to Ricardo Lamas at a UFC on Fox card in Chicago and to Poirier in Milwaukee.
Oliveira was recently stopped by Edson Barboza via leg kicks at UFC 162.
