Image Comics and Radiant Black #10 Spoilers follows.
Marshall Vs. Nathan!
Who’s Leaves…
…With The…
…Powers?
We open with a creator credits page.
Then Marshall follows the Helix to…
…Existence…
…to find his friend and first wielder of the Radiant Black power and…
…persona Nathan Burnett.
It’s a trippy ride…
…with some skermishes where enemy such as the Rainbow Radiant (my explanatation of antagonist from earlier issues) becomes ally and for a time Nathan looks to move from ally to enemy.
However, the book ends with…
…a fantastical journey that sci-fi and meta, but…
…very emotional and human too.
It culminates in the friends confronting each other…
…with Marshall so happy to see Nathan and willing to swap places with him.
In the end, it appears that Nathan may remain dead as Marshall must accept his new role and his friend’s fate, but since this whole series has been one surprise after another, I say all that with an asterisk until I read the next issue.
The Pulse:
Relatable sci-fi super-heroics with loads of intrigue and surprised rendered by a well paired crackling art style. There are some harder to grasp parts, but a reread or two helps with that. A fun read all around. 8 out of 10.
