Dusty Rhodes Talks WWE Developmental, Retirement From The Ring

News

Brian Fritz has an interview with “the American Dream” Dusty Rhodes at the Flying Elbow wrestling blog. Dusty talks about working with young talent in FCW (especially on their promos) and WWE’s youth movement.

He also addresses the fact that someone with his body type would probably not get a chance in today’s WWE, saying that the most important thing is putting asses in the seats in Dusty speak, and mentions CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, and John Morrison as guys he considers a new breed of athelete in WWE.

He goes on to talk about the fact that he’s never formally retired. He considers his 2007 bull rope match with Randy Orton his swan song and doesn’t have any plans to make a Ricky Steamboat-esque comeback, as he’s happy on the creative end of things (and has been since he was running WCW in the ’90s). You can also listen to a radio interview Fritz did with Rhodes by downloading it from the interview page.
