Justice League United #2 Spoilers & Review: New 52 Supergirl Debuts & Ultra Is Unleashed? Plus Stargirl’s Bombshell DC Comics Cover!

News, Spoilers

I was pretty excited when DC Comics announced they’d be launching a new Justice League series called Justice League Canada many months ago. They changed their mind, sorta, as the book would be called Justice League United on the cover, but the book would feature Justice League Canada in the interior; odd, I know.

However, DC Comics flipped flopped and are giving fans variant covers of the first few issues of Justice League United using a Justice League Canada logo. This is popular in Canada and likely nowhere else.

The first few issues, take place after the stunning events of Forever Evil #7, and have been interesting set-ups for the team coming together and dealing with their first Canadian wilderness and space adventures simultaneously:

Spoilers and capsule review follow for Justice League United #2.

In addition to the Justice League Canada variant above, issue #2 had a few more New 52 covers. That includes the Stargirl “Bombshell” cover.

In Justice League United #2, Supergirl finally makes her debut in this DC Comics series.

Kara Zor-el had heard the wails of the alien creature this yet-to-be-named team was fighting and came to inspect. She stays along for the adventure.

Following that, we learn the origins of Ultra The Multi-Alien and how it was the villain Byth has assumed control over the Ultra project. And Supergirl is not pleased. Ultra wasn’t supposed to be an organic weapon.

As the team gets close to Byth, some henchmen work to take Ultra to the next stage, which may spell trouble for the universe.

Is this yet-to-be-named Justice League team already too late?

I’m continuing to enjoy the multi-genre storytelling of writer Jeff Lemire; we have intrigue, action, drama, Sci-Fi and more rolled into one compelling yarn. Artist Mike McKone continue to deliver breathtaking art.

Justice League United remains a fave series of mine in this post Forever Evil DC Comics New 52. It feels fresh and new despite having the storied “Justice League” in the book’s title.

Thanks for reading. All feedback welcome.
