Fairy tales have worked for decades as good storylines for feature films; so there is really no need to stop now. Well, especially when a huge giant, some beans, and a magic beanstalk are involved.
Katey Sagal, Chevy Chase, Gilbert Gottfried, Wallace Shawn, and Christopher Lloyd are all going to star in the fairy tale feature length family comedy Jack And The Beanstalk. James Earl Jones is still in negotiations to voice the giant.
The traditional story takes a young boy named Jack who is to sell the family cow for some money so they can buy food. He gets swindled into trading the cow for “magic beans,” and that doesn’t sit well with his mother. But when the beans grow a huge beanstalk leading to the sky, Jack decides to investigate knowing a giant and his riches may be at the top of it.
Segal would play Jack’s (Colin Ford) mother while Gottfried would play the goose that lays the golden eggs. Shawn will play the role of the man who sells Jack the beans and Chase will cameo as the keeper of a labyrinth Jack must go through to see the giant.
No release date has been set but filming has already begun in Los Angeles.
