FOX Orders Another Chef Gordon Ramsay Food Show

Chef Gordon Ramsay is turning FOX into the other food network.

FOX has ordered up a third series featuring the hotheaded Scottish chef. This one is an adaptation of the culinary competition MasterChef, in which amateur cooks compete for the title of the best non-professional chef in the country. Think of it as Top Chef for home cooks or a food-based American Idol.

MasterChef has aired on the BBC for many years, and an Australian version was a hit earlier this year. “A huge reality format that works great in other countries plus Gordon Ramsay guarantees success,” FOX’s alternative-series chief Mike Darnell tells The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed. “Gordon is like our CSI.”

MasterChef would join Ramsay’s other shows, Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, on the FOX schedule sometime next year, possibly in the summer. The network is also planning a live cook-along special starring Ramsay for December.

The FOX version of the show will most likely follow the format of the Australian series: Would-be contestants audition by preparing a dish for a panel of judges; the best move on to the main competition, which features a series of individual and team challenges. The last cook standing wins.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
