Robert Schwentke, the German director who previously helmed Flightplan and The Time Traveler’s Wife, looks like he enjoys making films from comics. This fall sees the release of Red starring Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren; the picture is testing strong after the buzz from this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.
The director was one of the finalists to take the reigns of the Wolverine sequel, but that is no longer the case. Next for him is RIPD, Universal’s adaptation of the Dark Horse comic that has Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper attached to star.
The story centers on a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a ghost-busting police force comprised of ghosts that battles spirits unready to depart this world.
