Details Emerge On Upcoming TRON: Legacy Spin-Off Show

News, Projects

In an interview with Box Office Magazine, TRON: Legacy writer Adam Horowitz revealed some new details on the upcoming television spin-off TRON: Uprising. Horowitz, who previously served as a writer and executive producer on Lost, will shepherd the new show, due to air on Disney XD.

The show will feature an all-star cast of voices including Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Linda Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry and Lance Henriksen. Bruce Boxleitner, who in many ways played second fiddle to TRON co-star Jeff Bridges in TRON: Legacy, will reprise his roll of TRON in Uprising.

Horowitz says the show will take place between TRON and TRON: Legacy — during the period of time when Flynn was isolated in his safe house and Clu had taken over the grid. Wood will play a character called Beck who leads a revolution inside the computer world.

The show promises to fill in many of the sequel’s blanks and fill in the mythology of the TRON world. I guess Disney is going to show you can create a expanded universe around a film — whether audiences demand it or not.

The show is set for release sometime in 2012.
