The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Marvel Studios is reentering the Black Panther into development for a movie. I say reenter because for many years there were rumblings of Wesley Snipes playing the role of King T’Challa, many of those rumblings created by Snipes himself (who played the title character in the three Blade movies) who treated the role like the one of his dreams. Unfortunately, the movie just bounced around from studio to studio in developmental hell and nothing ever came out of it.
Today it was announce that Mark Bailey, a documentary writer, had been given the job of writing a screenplay for a Black Panther movie, which Kevin Feige is producing.
While it in’t a lot of information, it’s more than the project has had in years. There’s no doubt that Snipes is no longer attached, with being in jail being quite the hurdle, but all that does is open up the title role to a younger actor who could make a name for themselves with this role.
