Box Office: The Hunger Games Opens With $19.75 Million Midnight Earnings

Box Office, News, Top Story

From 2,565 midnight locations Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games had no problems nabbing the record for the all-time highest-grossing non-sequel midnights ever. And if that isn’t a mouthful of a record to say out loud (or read for that matter), how about just acknowledging that it’s $19.75 million gross places it 7th all time for highest midnight gross.

Internationally, Deadline reports that the film collected $1.8 million in Australia. That figure beats out the likes of Iron Man and Quantum of Solace but not enough to unseat Michael Bay’s Transformers sequel, Revenge of the Fallen, and the $2.1 million it made in 2009.
