Marvel Comics Universe and Lords Of Empyre: Swordsman #1 Spoilers and Review follows.

The Tragic Story Of The Swordsman and…

…His Son The Celestial Messiah!

The book opens on a storyline catch-up and creators’ credits page.

The story begins with a bit of a recap of how the very human one-time member of the Avengers became the alien salad Cotati hybrid.

Then father and son, the Celestial Messiah, go on a sword quest.

Through the story we understand that the Swordsman feels caught in the middle between humanity and vegetation.

The find the site of the sword…

…a scuffle ensues with develops, but they seemingly resolve the issue and…

…Swordsman feels like he’s home.

He actually wants Quoi to take on the mantle of the Swordsman…

…who says no as the Swordsman then begins his rest.

However, he is awoken by…

…developers and…

…a bloodbath ensues at the Swordsman’s hand.

The book ends with Quoi growing a new sword and…

…the Swordsman reborn.

The Pulse:

A touching story that add’s depth to the Swordsman, but ultimately unnecessary to the overall Empyre story. Art was not to my taste. Covers were good though. 4 out of 10.
