DC Comics & Batman / Superman #18 Spoilers & Review: Batman Vs. His Mother As Superman Deals With His Demon Too!

Spoilers

DC Comics and  Batman / Superman #18 Spoilers and Review follows.

Batman Vs. His Mother As…

…Superman Deals With His Demon Too!

Batman and Superman have come out of the pulp or radio serial worlds they had been trapped in by the Archivist only to put back into Superman’s!

They meet up with Robin and Superman soars to save Jimmy Olsen from a what appeared to be venom fueled Alfred Pennyworth / Parasite amalgam…

…Batman and Robin explore Wayne Manor and encounter Martha Wayne and her adult son Bruce.

Martha shoots Batman in front of her cowardly son; Batman and Robin are saved by Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen who are getting a ride from Superman.

Superman cauterizes Batman’s wound…

…as Dr. Atom plots with Martha Wayne.

She in turn injects the cowardly Bruce Wayne with the serum so he can hulk up and take on Superman!

It isn’t enough and Bruce is permanently disfigured by the serum; 1/2 his half is grotesque and the other 1/2 is like it had been.

Batman unmasks to Martha Wayne as an alternate Earth Bruce Wayne bringing her to her knees; it’s also revealed that Lex Luthor is from neither the Batman nor Superman serial, but from a world destroyed by the Archivist.

The book ends with Lex Luthor leaping from the film into the real world with the mini Batman and mini Superman as a Phantom Zone crystal is in play with the “regular sized” World’s Finest.

The Pulse:

Another intriguing issue with decent yet at times inconsistent art. Entertaining. 7 out of 10.
