When I first heard that John Cusack was joining a comedy called Hot Tub Time Machine, I sort of raised an eyebrow. How a comedy like this was able to move through the studio system and still retain its name is just mind-boggling. Not to mention it’s as high concept a comedy as you can get. Upon watching the trailer, I was transplanted back to my days as a little tyke in the ’80s. Jeri-curls, legwarmers, Walkmans, and a Michael Jackson who was still ebony (not yet ivory). This is what happens when you combine beer and a time-traveling hot tub with actors like John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke. Watch the trailer and see what I’m talking about.
What’s It About: A heavy night of Red Bull and vodka leads four friends to relax in a magical jacuzzi with time-traveling abilities. After they sober up, it’s time to party like it’s…1986?
Hot Tub Time Machine is being directed by Steve Pink, of the underrated Accepted with Justin Long and Jonah Hill previously. MGM will be releasing the comedy in theaters on February 26, 2010.
