The wait is almost over for Starman fans as the sixth and final Starman Omnibus Volume 6 by James Robinson is out on January 19, 2011. The final wraparound cover by Tony Harris has not been shared with the public yet.
Here is the solicit:
Written by JAMES ROBINSON; Art by PETER SNEJBJERG and others; Cover by TONY HARRIS
In this final STARMAN OMNIBUS hardcover featuring issues #61-81 of the classic series, Jack Knight’s worst nightmare becomes reality, as Opal City burns to the ground and chaos ensues, with hundreds of villains seizing the chance to strike.
Then, after a meeting with Superman and a last talk with his brother David, Jack must uncover the mystery of the Starman of 1951 — by going back in time to meet him face to- face!
Well, this is bitter-sweet. Sweet because we get to get the last omnibus of James Robinson’s classic Starman run, but bitter because its all over now. :(
There has been speculation that DC’s Blackest Night tie-in issue, Starman #81, and the upcoming 12-part Shade maxi-series, when complete, may be the cornerstone of another (or seventh) Omnibus or a hardcover at least. However, #81 is surprisingly in Omnibus Volume 6.
As of today, DC has not announced any future Starman Omnibuses after volume 6. Any future Omnibus would need about 20 issues and it would be 7 to 8 issues short unless there is more James Robinson Starman on the way with Mikaal outside of the JLA since James Robinson has said he’s not planning any more “Jack Knight” Starman tales.
Can’t wait for Wednesday!
