Former world light middleweight champion Winky Wright will make his return after two years away from the ring when he faces the european middleweight champion Matthew Macklin on April 9th. The fight will be on the undercard of a ppv that Golden Boy is putting together likely to be headlined by the all Mexican clash for the world lightweight title between Juan Manual Marquez and Erik Morales. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer believes that a victory will setup either fighter for a shot at one of the world champions in the division. The signing of Wright-Macklin does however place into doubt Macklin continued status as European Champion, as a purse bid had recently been concluded for Macklin to defend against Darren Barker.
